Why are some of my reports locked?

Competency progress reports will only be generated if the system has determined that you have written about that competency. We set it up this way to ensure there is enough content to make your report meaningful. However, we acknowledge that the system might miss something, so you can do your own reflection as needed.

How do I generate new reports?

After you unlock a report by journaling about the relevant competency you will be able to generate the report for that competency by clicking the “generate” or circular arrow button on the reports page. You can regenerate a report whenever you want. Please note that the new report may only be meaningfully different than the last if you have journaled about the related competency since the report was last generated.

What happens to the old reports when new ones are generated?

Previous versions of reports are “archived.” You can find your archived reports by selecting the “Archive” at the top right-hand corner of your “Reports” page.

How should I interpret the “level” in my competency report?

The AI feedback is not meant to be a judgment or a concrete evaluation of your skills. It's just one perspective based on patterns in what you have written. It's meant to spark insight and support your reflection, not to measure your worth or potential. You know your work best.

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored locally in your device’s browser. To provide AI-powered features, your journal is processed by our AI provider, Groq, using open-source AI models. Groq does not store any of the data, nor does it use it for any other purpose. For example, your journal will never be used to train AI models.

Keep in mind, if you switch to a different browser or device, your data won’t be there.

This setup helps protect your privacy; you can see all your content as long as you use the same device and browser.

Can I use JournalGroove on my mobile device?

You technically can, but we don’t recommend it for now. We believe the best experience will be to use it on your computer in your preferred browser.

What if I find something weird in a report?

If you feel something is off, please let us know! We regularly adjust the way that reports are generated to make sure they are high quality. However, sometimes AI tools do weird things! Please remember this tool is meant to serve as a thought partner, but you know yourself better than anyone.

Can I save my reports?

Yep! You can print them or save them as PDFs. When viewing a report, go to the three dots in the upper right and select “print”. In the print menu, you can print the report on real paper, OR select the option “Save as PDF.” Easy as that!

Can I export my journal entries?

Right now there isn’t an easy way to do this. We will work on this feature if folks are interested, though! For now, you can do it the old-fashioned way—copy & paste your journal content into another document and save that way. Thanks for your patience as we figure out new features!
